When Alphonse Lonhienne and his wife Maria established their lamb business in 1965, it was the combination of his skills as a Master Butcher, his insistence on the highest quality raw material and the value placed on customer care that proved key in ensuring that the company developed a loyal customer base and a reputation for excellence.
From humble beginnings, the Lonhienne couple progressively established their name as a leading supplier of quality lamb products to the Belgian market through hard work and a passion to succeed.
The move to a custom built premises in the early 1980’s facilitated further growth and development of the A. Lonhienne business. In 2011, the company was acquired by Irish Country Meats and continues to trade proudly under the A. Lonhienne brand, acutely aware of its heritage and responsibility to respect the values it represents.
Today, as Belgium’s number one lamb processor, A. Lonhienne prides itself in offering a concept-to-table specialist service to the market, capable of providing tailored lamb solutions in line with our customer’s individual business requirements.

In 2011, Irish Country Meats a member of the Linden Food Group, acquired A. Lonhienne. The fusion of two of the leading lamb processors in Europe has created a procurement and supply platform capable of meeting all market requirements.
